What we’re forced to do is more online which means they are transitioning from building their business face to face to 100% growing their businesses online.
Thanks to the pandemic and the lockdowns, a lot of people are have lost their jobs too. This means that we are all thinking of ways to be more creative so we can make money from home.
What we’re seeing more of these days is, everyday people who were once in the corporate world, working retail and even restaurants starting businesses online. Those that are transitioning from face to face marketing are now building upon their businesses in a different way such as using social media as a way to build their businesses.
So if you want to know how to start a coaching business online moving forward into 2021 and beyond, keep reading.
It’s really far more simple than you might expect, there are only a few aspect to really focus on.
- Proper setup
- Proper positioning
- Messaging & Marketing
- Converting in sales call
- Mindset of Perseverance
Step One: Proper Setup To Accept Money
The very first step is to get your business set up. We have to get you set up so that you can start taking money is the very first part of the simplicity system. Personally, I have found the easiest ways to do this is through PayPal or Stripe.
I’m using PayPal mostly right now but every now and then I use stripe when I get a client who doesn’t want to use PayPal.
What we want to do is be able to have a way of doing this while we’re on the phone with them, so that we can make the payments right away. This helps with a higher commitment level from your prospect and shows professionalism on your part.
This is so incredible when you can enroll them, get them signed up, and receive their payment right away.
I want you to understand something from a business standpoint that both PayPal and stripe have basically the same fees. I don’t want you to get caught up in minutiae and worry about the small details. You can always change as you’re learning and growing. I use PayPal a lot of time because I do find that it’s super easy to use. I can send them an invoice and I can take payment over the phone .
Here’s something else that I’d like to bring to your attention. More than likely if you are starting your coaching business online, you’re probably a solopreneur and you may be interested in knowing that the fees you are charged as the normal course of ding business and taking credit cards are tax-deductible.
Starting Your Coaching Business Online In 2021 Means You’ll Need To Learn About Marketing
When you’re interested in starting your coaching business online , you may realize that you are going to be promoting yourself. Generally speaking, I am marketing about 50% of the time. There are basically three platforms that I suggest that you research and discover on your own for how to promote your coaching business. I can tell you these three ways have worked really great for my clients and that would be, Facebook, YouTube, and LinkedIn,. However, it’s your business so you’ll have to decide what works best for you.
There’s a definite plan that I use, that I’ll share with you now. First, I start with video then breakdown that content. If you want to lean more about how I do it, watch this video where I go into detail.
The most important thing when you’re talking about marketing your business online is really creating valuable content. This means content that helps people solve problems. Think of yourself as a “problem-solver”.
What you do as a life coach, fitness coach, wellness coach or business coach is NOT what you’re promoting. That’s not how you’re promoting yourself. That’s not the kind of content that you’re creating. “I’m a life coach hire me.” The video goes into depth on this as well but we want to find out what your client’s struggles are and we want to create content that answers their biggest struggle.

This is how you’re going to start your coaching business online and start getting clients
By using questions that people want you to answer that will position you as an expert.
You want to be able to use Facebook to do this now I want you to understand. I’m not talking about a business page, a fan page, and talking about your personal page.
You’re just creating content that answers their biggest questions. It’s super easy to do.
Always be thinking of how you can repurpose this content over and over again into posts into blog posts, Livestreams, into guest post blogs and even onto Pinterest.
Pinterest is an amazing avenue for you to start and build your coaching business online looking forward to 2021 because it’s one of the biggest formats that people are using and it’s searchable. What that means is that people are actively using Pinterest to search for solutions.
Let your content, show your audience that you are the expert. All of this traffic is 100% free, and it’s easy to do. This way you’re not hustling and you’re not feeling that overwhelmed. I want you to think about your Facebook page, as a way for you to funnel people into creating discovery call.
If you want to start a coaching business online in 2021, we want to be able to get on the phone with people and have conversations with them. So what you want to do is you want to put a link on your banners you have your banner that tells people what problems you solve right and then you put a link in the description.
Consider doing the same in the featured image that Facebook gives to us there. There are so many tools that we have available to us to help start and build our coaching business online. Your journey to growing your thriving business online will be full of trials and errors but focus on your intention to have fun and help people and you’ll create a business that works for you to create freedom and global impact.
So, what we want to do is we want people to get on the phone with us. So we want to set it up, where they, it’s easy for them to know what to do. And by the way, I want you to do this on your website as well. And you do not have to have a website, in order to start your coaching business online, or, you know, really look forward to 2021.
Get your prospects talking to you.
You’ll want to consider creating booking system. In this booking system, you’ll want you to set up a survey or an application. There are many questions that you want to have on there that really filters out whether or not this prospect is a good fit for you or not. I know a lot of people I do this too.
When you first start your coaching business online. You want to work with anybody, but not everybody is going to be a good fit and you do not want to work with some people because they might be a nightmare client. This is where using the application or the survey, as a way to filter out people that may not be a good fit for you comes in. So, this application process is a way that you can see who is a serious client, and who isn’t.

Selling & Converting Prospects: Your Online Coaching Business In 2021
I want you to understand that your business is all about selling our results. If you’re thinking about starting your coaching business or if you’re working to rebrand, reposition or even rebuild because of the lockdown because maybe you lost your job, or you’re transitioning from face to face and you’re having to build it online; you have to understand these key things that I’ve been sharing with you in this blog post and video.
One of the biggest aspects of selling people is selling yourself first. That may sound strange but this is where mindset meets sales. Often people drop out of business because they aren’t selling and begin to second-guess themselves. They move in a cycle self-doubt which turns to a certain distain for marketing and doing discovery calls.

Let’s give you a tip to add to your tool belt for converting leads on a discovery call. Don’t ask endless questions. At most, you should only be asking up to 10 questions. Remember your goal here is to discover their pain-points and what their struggling with. In a discovery call, we need to uncover how much pain their in so that we can see if they’ll buy or if their just kicking tires.
Here’s a tip that almost always closes people on discovery calls for me. If you can close that gap from their struggle to their preferred outcome and let them know you’ve seen it before and know just how to solve it, then you’ve won them over into trusting you.
Trust is a major reason people don’t sign up or enroll into a non-tangible service. That’s our goal is to help them see that the benefits of working with you is the answer to their problems and if they don’t hire you, they’ll just continue struggling for years to come.
