You came here because you want to go vegan overnight. In this article, I’ll share a little of my own story on how I personally went, yes you guessed it, vegan overnight and why 24 hours could make a HUGE difference for your own vegan success story. Can you really go vegan overnight? Well, not everyone can but I’ll provide some advice so making a decision to go vegan overnight will become that much easier.
Here at Fearless Pursuits, I talk a LOT about creating a better version of yourself in ALL spheres of life. It’s not as simple as that because we as humans all want a better life but the problem is, we don’t act like our life depended on making a change.
All change happens first in the mind. First, it’s only a desire. Without the right mindset, you won’t achieve the success that you are seeking. In fact, your brain is designed to stop you if you even hesitate.
So, how can a person go vegan in 24 hours if they aren’t sure?
Simply put… you might or you might not! I’m going to be discussing everything you need to know that will make you confident in this decision.
How To Go Vegan In 24 Hours
You’ve given it some thought. Maybe you’ve even seen a friend go vegan. You’re beginning to see the movement spread like wildfire. Restaurants and grocery stores are beginning to carry more options than ever. Evidently, now is the easiest time to go vegan that’s ever existed.
In your mind, it’s not a strong enough desire yet. You have doubts. So, how do you go vegan overnight then? What does it take to finally make the leap?
For you, it boils down to education.
If you’ve already considered going vegan, but haven’t made much progress yet, it’s likely your fears and doubts still stand in your way. Your reason for doing it isn’t big enough yet to outweigh your fear.
The good news: you’ve arrived here with your curiosity, an open mind and desire. That’s a great start.
How I Went Vegan Overnight
If you’re a frequent reader of Fearless Pursuits, then you know that I go after my desires tooth and nail. It hasn’t always been that way, but now it’s nothing willy-nilly or with the slightest hesitation. I’m all in.
My entire adult life, I’ve been fascinated by the human body. I was raised by an alcoholic who didn’t eat healthy, and it showed. White, pasty skin and stringy dry hair was what I saw when I looked at my mother.
As I grew into adulthood, I immediately began reaching for more. More of everything, and my own health was no exception. When I was 22, I weighed 152 pounds at only 5’1″. I didn’t exercise, and I was eating all the worst foods without any thought. It was second nature to down a 16oz bottle of soda.
As time went on, I began competing in sports and eliminating the “bad” food. Many years later, I stepped on stage to win best physique in a bodybuilding competition.
I thought I needed meat to build muscle, but I had a conscience and passion for the animals as well as the pollution that is emitted from agriculture. Like you, I had a desire, but I was afraid. After building all the muscle that I did, I worried that I would wither away and become a skinny vegan.
What did I do? I educated myself.
Here’s where you start, too. I talk to people all the time who are afraid to go vegan for one reason or another. I was afraid of the backlash. People can be harsh.
I have two suggestions;
Here’s what they’re saying about it;
“The Forks Over Knives Plan is the prescription you need to live a long, healthy life.” (Sanjay Gupta, MD, CNN chief medical correspondent)
“A smart, user-friendly ‘how-to’ book on using whole, plant-based foods.” (Dr. T. Colin Campbell, author of The China Study)
“You are about to be blown away by how well this step-by-step plan works. It is simple, affordable, medically sound, and people tested. Read these pages, start leaning in to the suggestions, and expect nothing less than a profound physical transformation!” (Kathy Freston, author of Quantum Wellness)
Now, The Forks Over Knives Plan shows you how to put this life-saving, delicious diet into practice in your own life. This easy-to-follow, meal-by-meal makeover is the approach Doctors Alona Pulde and Matthew Lederman (featured in the documentary) use every day in their nutritional health practice.
It’s a simple plan that focuses on hearty comfort foods and does not involve portion control or worrying about obtaining single nutrients like protein and calcium.
This is available right now on Netflix. However if you don’t have a Netflix membership then you can get it here on Amazon.com.
After doing my due diligence, frankly, it was easy to make the decision. I got my confidence and strength from the knowledge that I learned.
Now, not only was I going vegan overnight for my health, but also for the environment and the animals.
The interesting thing is, you can’t “unsee” nor can you “unlearn” things either.
After I regained my composure, I made a plan. On Craigslist, I placed an ad in the ‘free’ section, and gave away all foods in my freezer and my refrigerator that contained any animal products. I let them take everything and didn’t look back.
Has it been easy? Well, I can’t say I was really smart about it. If I could do it all over again, I would have continued my education.
It was really the movie that pushed me over the edge. I was sitting on the fence about going vegan, but I learned very quickly how to go vegan overnight after watching that movie.
How To Go Vegan The Right Way
So what would I do differently? If you want to learn how to go vegan the right way, then this section is for you. I think you have to consider your lifestyle and what foods you like and don’t like.
Alright. By now, you might be a bit overwhelmed by all of this. How do you put it together? Start learning some recipes that combine some of these foods into meals, and over time, you’ll have a few go-to meals that you love that are full of nutrition.
I ran across a life saver! It’s called Nutriciously. They have a vegan starter kit that really helps the transition become as easy as it should be.
They have so much to offer:
- A complete guide to plant-based foods.
- 40+ recipes
- A full 14 day meal plan that takes all the guess work out of it.
I wish I knew about this when I first went vegan. They even have a restaurant guide.
They show you how to eat out and find plant-based foods in unlikely places – even fast food joints.
If you are wanting to lose weight or just become more healthy, then checking out the vegan starter kit may just be the game changer that you have been looking for.
Thanks to having been a personal trainer and a nutrition coach, I learned so much about nutrition and exercise. I was able to win or at least place in all of my competitions.
My passion for being healthy wasn’t something I ever lost, but I still carried a little extra weight on my backside when I wasn’t competing.
I resided to the ‘fact’ that I would only “look good” if I was prepping for a competition. Imagine living an entire lifetime in competition mode. I don’t know how on earth I thought that would be sustainable!
However, one of the unexpected bonuses of going vegan was losing that stubborn weight. Granted, it really was just a few pounds, but I’m a small lady. It wasn’t going away after years of dedicated training and diet, and going vegan was what finally fixed that.
Eating more fruits and vegetables is nothing new. We knew it was good for us but we truly didn’t grasp the importance of it until recently.
We’ve seen the information of juicing and the benefits of detoxing our bodies but we still look the other way. If you truly want to learn how to become a vegan to lose weight, then it’s time to make a decision like your life depended on it. We can no longer deny the power of fruits and vegetables.
I have been able to keep off the weight year after year and I just eat plants. I have grown to love being vegan. Sounds like a funny question, but in the beginning, I wondered: “Will I ever eat anything yummy ever again?”
Oh yes, you will!
A “junk food vegan” is definitely NOT what I’m suggesting you become. Just because it’s vegan doesn’t make it healthy.
When we want to lose weight, we have to find balance and take small steps. I believe in splurging every now and then. Actually, I think it’s healthy for us to let loose from time to time. It makes us feel “normal”. Most people don’t want to live a rigid lifestyle.
You don’t have to.
While the fruits and veggies will detox you, nourish your body with nutrients and help you lose weight, you’ll also learn new habits to keep you on track. This is one of the aspects that I love most about the vegan starter kit. They’re holding your hand along the way, making it a breeze to live a more healthy lifestyle!
