The Eisenhowser Matrix Interactive Tool
How to Use the Eisenhower Matrix Tool
This tool helps you prioritize tasks by urgency and importance. Organize your tasks into four quadrants:
- Urgent & Important: Do it now (e.g., crises, deadlines).
- Not Urgent & Important: Plan and schedule (e.g., self-care, long-term goals).
- Urgent & Not Important: Delegate or minimize (e.g., interruptions).
- Not Urgent & Not Important: Limit or eliminate (e.g., distractions).
Eisenhower Matrix
Important & Urgent
These are activities that you have to do right away: crises, problems, or deadlines. These are often tasks that were in Quadrant II and kept getting pushed until they became urgent. To reduce these, take more time doing tasks from Quadrant II.
Important & Not Urgent
These are tasks that help achieve long term goals but don't have pressing deadlines. Personal and self-care tasks belong here. Break these down over time to avoid stress & poor work quality before they become urgent and move to Quadrant I.
Not Important & Urgent
These tasks require immediate attention but don't help achieve goals. Often interruptions or favors from others that are time-consuming. They're not necessarily bad but need to be balanced. Learn to politely say no to focus on your priorities.
Not Important & Not Urgent
These are mostly distractions that could take up your whole day if not managed. They don't need to be eliminated but should wait until important tasks are done. Activities like TV or social media can help you relax - just don't let them take over your day!
